Well, here we are well into 2014 and I’m disappointed to be so behind on things. Just as soon as I got that first post up, my life turned upside down. My dad, who had suffered a stroke several years ago and for whom I was co-caretaker, suddenly had to be admitted to the local ICU for complications arising from kidney failure. That was the beginning of a heart-wrenching odyssey that would have myself and other family members staying with him in his ICU room every day/night for the next month.
As if things couldn’t get worse, 2 days after dad was admitted to the hospital, my beloved pet for whom I had been nursing with a syringe and doing all I could to help her fight her liver disease, finally succumbed to it. When I came home from the hospital that second night, I discovered she had passed.
Little did I realize that a funeral for my sweetest friend was to be soon followed just weeks later by my dad’s funeral. I guess it all wore me down not only emotionally, but physically too, as I soon came down with the worst case of sinusitis I’d ever had.
As you can imagine, it was all quite a setback and I’m just now getting caught up on things. So, please forgive me for not having things further along here. I’m hopeful for the future though and believe the rest of 2014 will bring better things, God willing.
I’m working on getting some tracks recorded and available for download here as quickly as I can. I’m still learning a lot of things as I go. I guess you could say I’m a work in progress. In the meantime, I invite you to check out the music of friend and fellow musician Andy Murray. He’s from Scotland and is in a couple bands, one of which is Spatial Unity. You can check out the band’s page here and Andy’s Patreon page here. If you aren’t familiar with Patreon, it’s really cool. It helps artists (musicians to cartoonists to everything in-between!) connect with their fans while enabling fans to support and engage with the artists and creators they love. I’m sure I’ll have my own page there in time, but first things first.
Until next time…
All the best,
Dan
